What is .NET SDK?

The .NET SDK (Software Development Kit) includes everything you need to build and run .NET applications, including:

  • ✅ .NET CLI (Command Line Interface)
  • ✅ Runtime and Libraries
  • ✅ Build Tools and Compiler

🛠 Step 1: Download & Install .NET SDK

  1. 1️⃣ Go to the official .NET download page: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/download
  2. 2️⃣ Select the latest version of .NET SDK (e.g., .NET 8.0).
  3. 3️⃣ Choose your OS:
    • Windows: Download the .exe installer.
    • Mac: Download the .pkg file.
    • Linux: Follow the terminal commands provided on the website.

After installation, open a terminal or command prompt and run:

dotnet --version

✅ If installed correctly, you will see the version number (e.g., 8.0.2).

🔹 2️⃣ Setting Up Visual Studio (VS) or Visual Studio Code (VS Code)

🔹 Option 1: Visual Studio (VS)

Why Use VS?

  • ✅ Full-fledged IDE with powerful debugging, IntelliSense, and project management tools.
  • ✅ Best for ASP.NET Core, Blazor, MVC, Web API, and C# development.

🛠 Step 1: Download & Install Visual Studio

  1. 1️⃣ Go to the official website: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/
  2. 2️⃣ Select the edition:
    • Community Edition (Free for individuals and small teams)

  3. 3️⃣ Run the installer and select “.NET Desktop Development” and “ASP.NET and Web Development” workloads.
  4. 4️⃣ Click "Install" and wait for the process to complete.

🔹 Option 2: Visual Studio Code (VS Code)

Why Use VS Code?

  • ✅ Lightweight, fast, and extensible.
  • ✅ Ideal for small projects, microservices, and cross-platform development.

🛠 Step 1: Download & Install VS Code

  1. 1️⃣ Go to the official website: https://code.visualstudio.com/download
